CQ's Summer Suitcase - Camping in Cornwall
Continuing on with our Summer Suitcase special, here is a list of what to pack when hitting the open road in beautiful blighty! This is a tried-and-tested holiday wardrobe - Gemma spent two weeks in Newquay last year!
It's worth checking out Charlotte's recent post on festival fashion to get you on the right track with what to take camping. It's all about mixing style and comfort (and don't forget those wellies - you'll thank us later). Here are a few other suggestions:
Practicality is the key word here so stock up on vests, shorts, cropped trousers and the like. Dorothy Perkins has a special at the moment, with two vests for £10. This includes the new longer-line styles which are great for layering and also double up as warm thermals if it gets cold at night! Add a pair of shorts for laid-back style. Our Miss Sixty ones (£62.50 at W1 Style) are cool enough to wear at night too, but if they're a bit skimpy for your taste try a pair of black bermudas or a floaty knee-length skirt instead. Add some bangles for a bit of glam (£5 Miss Selfridge) and top up your tan each night with some Summer Glow body lotion from Dove (£3.32 at Boots).
You'll need a decent, practical backpack for a camping trip (tents aren't exactly safe for stashing £700 Chloe handbags) but you can still show off your girly side with this groovy pink daypack for £34.99. Wellies are a must for midnight trips to the toilet block after a sudden downpour. Schuh have some great floral ones for £29.99.
The beaches of Cornwall are great for surfing, so invest in a bikini from a surf brand to fit in with the locals. Ours is Roxy from Bikini Shack at £41. Accessorise with a pair of sunnies such as this Topshop pair for £15 in pink (to match your backpack!) and a cap to shield you from the sun (also Topshop).
