CQ's Summer Suitcase - Clubbing in Ibiza (or anywhere, really!)

Net-a-porter's current feature on what to take on your next summer escape has inspired us here at CQ to create our own high street version. Because let's face it, how many of us are actually going to be sailing around Bora Bora this summer in our £275 Emilio Pucci swim suit? (Not unless I can convince P. Diddy into letting me borrow his squillon dollar yacht.) Nope, this summer it's more likely you'll be clubbing in Ibiza, camping in Cornwall, shopping in New York or soaking up the sun in Santorini (that is, if you're lucky enough like me!). So over the next few days we'll be helping you pack...

Essentials for clubbing in Ibiza (or any party destination where the Sun shines) :

Keep cool in a denim skirt like Topshop's pelmet skirt (£25). On holiday you can get away with a much shorter mini! Add a strappy top in a fun Summer colour (this one is also from Topshop for £8). A colourful bikini - Debenhams have a great one at £10 for the top and £8 for the bottoms. Girls on holiday soon do away with their sweaty heels - flip flops are a much better bet! My personal favourites are Havaianas - check out Igapost, they have a great selection for much cheaper than you'll pay in Urban Outfitters!

Accessory wise, keep the sun off your face and protect your hair with a hat like Monsoon's straw cowboy hat (£20). Add a bright beach bag for your lazy days (£15 at Dorothy Perkins) and top it all off with a bit of casual jewellery - the tumble stones bracelet from Accessorize (£8) is perfect for that laid-back island style!

Can you help me to decide what footwear to pack for clubbing all night in Ibiza, are heels expected or can I look for something more comfortable? Help!

  • Val

That looks like around the neighborhood in California!

  • Deb, I think on that one I'll have to give my mum a call! She's the queen of hats. I don't know how she does it, but she always knows where to get a crushable / packable / foldable sun hat!

And thanks for the bikini recommendation. I'll be doing a full piece on 'kinis in the next couple of weeks. It's a bit of a tradition of mine.

That all looks great! Catwalk queen do you have any suggestions of where to get a brimmed hat that can pack into a suitcase? Would be v grateful! Thanks Deb

PS for those of 14/16 UK size I recommend Bravissimo bikini's - no I never thought that I'd let anyone see me in a 2 piece but they do a great black one that has little short type bottoms and is amazingly flattering!
