If I had my way, I'd wear shirt dresses all the time. I've always loved them, so this season is like a dream for me. Everywhere I go I'm greeted by gorgeous little button-down numbers in all manner of great fabrics and prints. This one ($158 from Odille at Anthropologie) has a more grown-up look than most, with mother of pearl buttons, a slightly prim looking Victorian neckline and sharp front pleats. It's the kind of dress that speaks for itself. Just add a pair of espadrilles (if you can't afford Louboutin, try ebay), red lipstick and a wicker basket bag and you're ready to pretend you live in a quaint French village selling chocolat to disapproving old women.
