Indian Fashion Week

The seventh Indian Fashion week in Delhi came to an end on Sunday, and it was a damn sight more colourful than our offerings. Instead of ready-to-wear and couture, India has 'Pret' which is the equivalent of ready-to-wear, and 'Diffusion' which lies between ready-to-wear and couture. Indian designers are starting to attract more attention from western buyers and it’s easy to see why – it’s not all intricate saris and Bollywood-esque designs (although the latter did feature quite heavily). Amid all the tat, there was some jewels in the crown. Like this swirling oasis amid a sea of overexposed bellys and inexplicable hats. I also rather like this golden creation, and this black and white outfit proves Indian designers can do chic when they want to. [Charlotte Howells]
