This week's carnivale of couture is hosted by Bag Snob, and the question is simple and straightforward...

What is your one must have fashion item for this Spring/Summer?

I'm afraid I'm going to be quite predictable this week and not try and be clever. The Catwalk Queen must-have for Spring Summer is a really beautiful, multi-purpose dress...

Though I've always been a fan of the shirt dress, style, shape and length aren't really that important here, it's just the idea of the 'dress' as a whole that I'm trying to encourage. It's my opinion that people don't wear enough dresses. We're so used to putting on jeans and flats and not really bothering too much about dressing up, and it's a real shame. What happened to the days when women looked like women? I say we bring back effort, or at least the illusion of it. Putting on a dress automatically makes you feel more feminine, more chic, more dressed-up. A good, well-fitting dress in a great fabric can be dressed up or down for just about any occasion. There's a style out there to suit everyone, and there are some wonderful offerings on the high street, so this isn't even a look that has to cost a lot.
