The Blues: Day and night
Blue reigned at the Oscars, and it’s always been one of my favourite colours. So this post is homage to versatility of the blues. Blue looks sparkling day and night - we should wear it more!
By the sea: We just can’t give that nautical theme up and, being the colour of the ocean, blue is the perfect choice for it. The canvas espadrilles are appropriately named ‘yacht blue’ and are $78 from Anthropologie, as is the sail-away satchel ($448), and the blue cardi ($58), the ribbon sash nods to this season's Burberry Prorsum collection. I was tempted to add some blue and white striped city shorts, but resisted and went for more subtle linen cropped trousers (£40) from Monsoon.
Blue by night: As the Oscars proved, blue works just as well for red carpet as it does for daytime casual. I love this glam blue dress from Couture Candy, and so does Madonna, as she wore it to appear on MTV. It reveals just the right amount of flesh, with shoulders and knees covered but a flash ofcollarbone and back (the back is just as pretty as the front). As it’s night time, add a bit of laid back bling with Accessorize’s semi precious stone necklace (£15). And for all-over blue, Viva la Diva has the shoes (£44.99). [Charlotte Howells]
