Oscar Fashion Moments: Jennifer Garner
Jennifer Garner (or, as I like to think of her, the anti-JLo) is one of those rare women who is both stunningly beautiful and girl-next-door charming. There is something very endearing about the way she showed up at the 2004 Oscars in this amazing tangerine vintage Valentino gown, but topped it off with a schoolgirl fringe (bangs). While the rest of the glitterati tend to go for all-out glamour with big waves and complicated up-dos, Jennifer's no-nonesense hairstyle is a breath of fresh air. Who needs more busyness with a body like that and such an eye-catching dress? Jennifer got the balance just right. As the designer himself, "She has such a toned and commanding body, and her posture is so impressive, that even when you drape all this taffeta around her, including a full train, she never gets lost in the drama of it."
This is one of those Oscar moments that grew on me. When I first saw the dress, I was put off by the colour, but the more photographs I saw, the more I fell in love with it. In most photos, Jennifer looks so statuesque, but I love this more relaxed pose. She actually looks excited to be there in such a gorgeous gown, and I think that's the most important thing!
