In my last post before the big night begins (don't forget to check out the liveblogging all night long) it's time to do some designer predictions. I usually get these completely wrong, but it's always fun to guess! These are the labels we think the nominated actresses will be wearing tonight...

Actress In A Supporting Role

Amy Adams: As a red carpet newbie, she's still learning the ropes and I think she'll go for a tried-and-tested ultra-chic favourite. I predict Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel or Carolina Herrera.

Catherine Keener: I see her in something simple and chic. Perhaps Ralph Lauren or Donna Karan, or maybe Pamela Dennis.

Frances McDormand: One of the actresses to go for white, perhaps? It'll be a slightly bohemian choice, with looser, messier hair than many other nominees. Designer-wise, possibly Badgley Mischka, Alberta Ferretti or J. Mendel.

Rachel Weisz: I'd like to see mum-to-be Rachel in a gorgeous empire line gown from a British designer, but I have  a feeling she'll go for Armani, Prada, Valentino or Donna Karan.

Michelle Williams: She's been stunning in couture recently, and no doubt that will continue. I have an inkling it may be Chanel, Elie Saab or possibly Givenchy, like she wore to the Golden Globes.

Actress In A Leading Role

Judi Dench: Judi usually goes for something simple and flowy with heavy embellishment. I think we'll see her in long sleeves (probably a coat over a dress) in a light colour - perhaps this season's purple? Designer-wise, I wouldn't like to say!

Felicity Huffman : I think it's safe to say she'll be in Marchesa, who she seems fairly devoted to when the red carpet is concerned. I think she'll go for a bold colour having done white already. Maybe a fabulously vivid blue or deep, regal purple?

Keira Knightley: It'll either be a gorgeous re-vamped vintage piece from Alaia or Herve Leger, a chic Lanvin or or (if I'm lucky) a gorgeous custom piece from Matthew Willamson / Pucci.

Charlize Theron: Dior Couture, of course. I bet you a fiver!

Reese Witherspoon: After the golden globes debacle, I think it's safe to say she won't be wearing Chanel (unless it's a seriously amazing couture 'apology' dress). Reese might be one of the ladies who goes for lavender, and it'll be a big name designer. Oscar De La Renta, Yves Saint Laurent or Valentino, perhaps?
