Oscars Fashion Moments: Angelina Jolie
Let's face it, If you're Angelina Jolie you're going to look good in a sack. But in a slash fronted white satin Marc Bouwer gown, good suddenly becomes stunning. Ok, so the mother-to-be has been labelled a homewrecker by the press, but even a fully paid-up member of Team Aniston has to admit that this woman can dress!
This dress is one of my all time Oscars favourites (of which there are quite a few since the awards are in their 78th year). It's chic but simple, it shows just enough flesh, it pushes the envelope (floor length white could so easily look bridal) and it's perfectly finished with great jewellery, a matching wrap and a simple swept back hairdo. Angelina has tried some unusual looks at previous ceremonies (long sleeved and high necked gothic black velvet Versace the year she won a Best Supporting Actress gong, and a white Dolce & Gabbana trouser suit the following year) but this dress really signalled her status as a style icon to be reckoned with. Give that stylist a bonus!
