You've got to love December. All those festive party invites mean lots of excuses to get all glammed up and drink free alcohol in other people's houses. What's not to love? Over the next couple of weeks I'll be showing you some gorgeous Christmas outfits for all those soirees. And if you haven't had any party invitations yet, why not organise your own party! People will love you, especially in one of these ensembles...

A draped top like the chemistry halter from Go Jane ($23.99) is great for showing off sleek shoulders (buff them up with some shimmer powder) while hiding a post-Christmas belly. Keep the rest of the outfit sleek to balance the volume (try Topshop's pencil skirt for £30). Give yourself some height with some super sexy shoes (ask Santa to bring you Rupert Sanderson's 'Elmira' velvet Mary-Janes £335) and finish off the look with some cheap and chic gold accessories (clutch bag £30 from Faith and chandelier earrings £5 from ASOS).

If black is too boring, give regal purple a try with the beautiful Aubergine atlantic embroidered satin dress from Warehouse (£75). Keep off the chill with Miss Selfridge's Fox holey wrap (£28) which has the same drop waist as the dress. Finish the look with strappy gold sandals (like the 'Alexa' sandals from Bakers Footwear for $49.99) and some interesting jewellery, like Madame Fancy Pants 'The Single Goddess' earring for NZ$60. I have it, and it never fails to get compliments!
