I promised that today I'd show off some casual coats to go with yesterday's more formal finds, and I'm not one to go back on my word. So here's the Catwalk Queen's pick of the bunch for casual cool when it gets chilly.

First up are a couple of military-inspired cropped jackets for those who like to be on the cutting edge even where outerwear is concerned. The grey aviator style jacket on the left (£60 at Warehouse) is very Dior-esque, and is great for those with narrow shoulders as the wide collar will help balance out your shape. Show off (or create) a curvaceous waist with the TFNC miltary jacket (£45 at ASOS). Military continues to be a big fashion influence as we move into Winter.

The funky cropped cable-knit cardi (£30 at Topshop) has a cosy hood but sits closer to the body than a lot of the puffy cropped jackets that are around this season, making it great for those who're big up top, but also for layering under another coat or jacket when it gets really cold. The tan glossy blazer (£65 at Wallis) has a 70s vibe, which is a burgeoning trend this season (just you wait). It's an investment buy that'll never go out of style.

For those who feel the chill, a comfy and cosy duffle coat is perfect. The classic design on the left (£75 at Topshop) has a faux fur trimmed hood, which puts a modern twist on the timeless shape. Finally, the Ben Sherman chest stripe jacket ($99 at Urban Outfitters) is a real retro find, and another piece which wouldn't look out of place on That 70s Show! If you like to be the first to pick up on a trend, get yourself one of these, team it with some flared jeans and get busy with the hairspray!
